It's very simple! There are 2 main reasons to having properly maintained books:

1. The IRS requires you to maintain books. Here is a quote from the IRS website,

"If you're in business, there's not a required method of bookkeeping you must use. However, you must use a method that clearly and accurately reflects your gross income and expenses."

2. MOST IMPORTANTLY, if you don't know your numbers you can't make effective, strategic decisions for your business. Have you ever wondered how to get out of debt, or if you can pay your team a bonus or even hire a team, or how the heck to pay yourself? Have you ever wanted to offer a new service, but weren't sure if you could take the risk? These are all questions that can be answered with properly maintained books in an accounting software.

Bookkeeping done right keeps you compliant with the IRS and gives you the data you need to make those tough decisions.

If you already have sales and/or expenses you need to have a systematic way of tracking them and knowing what it means so that you can make strategic decisions for your business moving forward.

No! In fact, don't touch them - you may make things worse which would cost you more time and money.

We love messy books!

Yes, you need bookkeeping software, but you don't have to have it already. The initial part of the process is to assess your current system (whether it is QuickBooks or Excel) and assess if it is meeting your needs.

We will guide you through the process and help you figure out the software that is the best fit for your business needs. However, please keep in mind that the ONLY software we support is QuickBooks Online (it is pretty amazing).

You can choose to pay for the subscription yourself or we can add it to our monthly fee as reimbursement.

We request online view-only access to your banks, credit cards, PayPal, and invoicing system (if it is separate).

Almost all of these have accountant read-only log in access and we will help you figure out how to do that so that your data is secure.

The reason we ask for this is to work efficiently and not have to bother you for requests for information that already exists in your account.

Once your bookkeeping software is up and running we categorize any transactions on a weekly basis. If there are any transactions we cannot figure out we will ask you through your secure client portal for clarification.

We also handle any other weekly tasks (i.e. bill pay, invoice management, or payroll services) that you have contracted us to complete.

At the end of the month we will reconcile your accounts (making sure that all the transactions in QuickBooks Online actually match the statements in your accounts) and make any corrections to ensure everything balances.

Finally, we provide your monthly reports no later than the 15th of the month. At minimum you will receive your Balance Sheet, Profit & Loss, and Statement of Cash Flows and schedule time to meet with you to go over everything.

Again, your reports don't mean anything if you don't understand what they say.

Our base monthly packages start at $400 a month and vary based on your complexities and needs.

If you need your books caught up, there will be a one-time project fee.

Moving forward you are billed on a monthly auto-pay subscription which is automatically drawn from your bank account or credit card on the 1st of the month.
